Be a Leader!

The Boys' Brigade is the largest and oldest uniformed Christian youth organisation in the UK, working to develop young people socially and emotionally towards mature adulthood.

Whether you can spare a couple of hours a week or a day a month, helping young people is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your spare time! And not only will you be helping young people, you will also get the chance to develop your own skills and learn new ones.

What's Needed

We need: leaders to work with our young people on a weekly basis; reserve leaders who are available to help out occasionally; event organisers; public relations gurus – whatever they are, we can put your skills to good use!

Support and training are provided, so don’t worry that you don’t know everything (or anything) about Boys’ Brigade – if you have the enthusiasm we can help you with the rest!

Our Battalion

Our Battalion comprises 9 companies, covering Perth City, Bankfoot, Blairgowrie, Kinross and Scone.

Most companies operate 3 sections: Anchor Boys (for ages 5 to 7); Junior Section (for ages 8 to 10); and Company Section (for ages 11 to 18).

Choose a Role!

There are different Leader Roles designed to be suitable to a variety of individuals - which one's for you?

Helper

Men or Women who are in sympathy with the objectives of The Boys’ Brigade. Typically, a Helper will assist in delivering activities.

Warrant Officer

Men or Women who are in sympathy with the objectives of The Boys’ Brigade. A Warrant Officer has the same responsibilities as a Helper, but with the additional commitment to completing Youth Leader Training.

Lieutenant

Men or Women who are adherents of a Church or other Christian organisation, and who are in sympathy with the objectives of The Boys’ Brigade. Youth Leader Training must be completed before appointment as a Lieutenant.

Captain

Men or Women at least 20 Years of age who are adherents of a Church or other Christian organisation, and who are in sympathy with the objectives of The Boys’ Brigade. Youth Leader Training and Captain’s Training must be completed before appointment as a Captain.

Reserve Officer or Battalion Official

Men or Women at least 18 Years of age who are in sympathy with the objectives of The Boys’ Brigade. Appointment is made by the Battalion.

Child Protection

The Boys' Brigade is committed to providing a safe environment in which Boys and young people can develop. As part of this commitment Leaders are required to register and complete a Disclosure Scotland form. Registration must be renewed every five years.

And that's all the 'red tape' there is!
